Fully encapsulated between two sheets of Mylar, this historic document from 1828 was in very poor condition. Years of folding and unfolding had caused the paper to tear and separate into 8 segments, leaving the ink inscriptions and wax seals vulnerable to further deterioration. A previous attempt had been
made to hold the segments together using double-sided tape. The tape required carful removal so that the document segments could be realigned and properly mended using wheat starch paste and toned Japanese tissue.
